The Swedish Energy Agency has commissioned Gasefuels AB funds to implement the project Decentralised production of pyrolysis oil to transportation to large-scale CHP-plants and gasification plants. The project aims to examine the technical, environmental and economic conditions and opportunities for decentralized processing of wood by pyrolysis.

By pyrolysis, a thermochemical decomposition process, can a pyrolysis oil from wood be obtained. This oil has a higher energy density compared to wood and allow itself as liquid to be easily transported. Number of transports needed to central CHP-plants and gasification facilities will therefore not only decline, but less processing of raw fuel insite will be necessary.

Gasefuels AB sees the project as part of its vision to promote the development of renewable fuels in Sweden and look forward to begin work.
